Project Overview
An Italian farm and micro-brewery decided to upgrade their manually operated brewing system with the volume of 600 litres into an upgraded system that would allow increasing its capacity and making it more energy-efficient and semi-automated.
In order to cope with growing demand for its craft beer products, the brewery required an appropriate solution allowing increasing the capacity of production and making it more energy-efficient.
The development of the project was based on the ideas of the 4th and 5th industries with the emphasis on the remote control, process repeatability and efficient resource usage.
The Problem
The existing manual-based brewery system became ineffective in view of increasing production capacity. Therefore, there were several main challenges to be overcome, namely:

The upgraded installation included a 2,500-litre brew house per batch, capable of producing up to 5,000 litres per day, together with advanced automation and energy recovery technologies.

As a result, the brewery could produce more efficiently and with increased production rate.

Due to energy recovery and process management, there is a certified reduction of energy consumption by 15%.
