Integrated Dairy Processing Plant for a Growing Supermarket Brand
The Customer
One of the major players in the supermarket industry in Panama chose to venture into a wider scale of operations by establishing an industrial park where they produce their products in different product lines including bread, meat, vegetables, and dairy products using their own brand.
Their objective is to have a production process that will ensure quality control throughout the process of production up until the point of delivery to their customers. INOXPA is one of the major suppliers of their dairy products and bakery products facilities.
The Project
To cater to the expanding needs of the company, the dairy industry was broken down into different phases. The first phase included upgrading the current facilities and improving production prior to the establishment of the factory. Due to the growing demand for dairy products, it was necessary to find a proper solution.
With the help of equipment installed, the production capacity was increased to 15,000 liters per day, including milk, yogurt, and cheese, from an initial capacity of 5,000 liters per day.
Installation Highlights
The system comprises all the dairy products manufacturing modules that allow for smooth working in sanitary conditions:
- A milk reception unit handling 22,000 l/h, filtering, measuring, and cooling milk to 4°C
- Three insulated tanks for storing milk and whey
- Cheese pasteurizer (5,000 l/h) equipped with a skimming centrifuge
- Milk and yoghurt pasteurizer (500 l/h), which has a centrifuge, homogenizer in two stages, adjustable temperatures of 80-95°C and time period from 30 to 300 seconds
- A yoghurt mix preparation blender with tank for uniform consistency
- A high-performance bottle filling machine capable of handling 1,000 l/h, adaptable to multiple bottle formats
- Curd cutter used for efficient processing of cheese
- Whey separation and cooling equipment
The process of packaging was automated via introducing an automatic bottle filling machine for smooth operation and correct bottling.
The Outcome
The installation has succeeded in increasing production capacity while at the same time ensuring improved process controls throughout the various stages of milk production. With the integration of automation through the introduction of the automated bottle filling machine, greater efficiency has been achieved.
The new infrastructure has the potential for growth, thus accommodating rising consumer demands. The automatic bottle filling machine ensures flexible packaging options, thereby accommodating products of varying shapes and sizes.
Conclusion
This case study illustrates the ability of a carefully designed dairy processing system to change the production potential and foster future growth within the company. Thanks to the efficient processing units and high-level automation, the factory now runs with increased reliability. Through collaboration with INOXPA, the grocery store is well-equipped to expand its own dairy brand.
