Custom-Made Brewery (Inoxpa)

Custom-Made Brewery (Inoxpa)

17 Jun, 2025

Dating back to ancient civilizations such as Mesopotamia, Egypt, and China, the brewing of beer has a rich and diverse history. According to archaeologists, the origins of beer date back to around the 6th millennium BC. As time passed, beer transformed from a small, community-based brewing tradition to an expansive global industry. In modern times, however, there has been a significant comeback in craft beer, brewed in smaller, independent breweries with a focus on flavor, quality, and innovation. These breweries have established their own identity and gained a loyal customer base worldwide.

Radiocraft Brewery: The Vision

RADIOCRAFT BREWERY is one such innovative brewery, located in Albano Laziale, a town just outside of Rome, Italy. It was founded in 2020. Radiocraft is an independent craft brewery that specializes in producing both ale and lager using traditional techniques improved by modern technology. With growing demand and the target of producing 2 to 3 batches of beer per day, the brewery needed a solution to meet its exact requirements.

The vision was clear: a trustworthy brewing system equipped with advanced automation, energy-saving features, and a layout that fit into their existing space. Radiocraft Brewery partnered with Inoxpa, a leading name in fluid handling systems and process engineering for the food and beverage industry, in order to meet the high expectations.

Inoxpa’s Brewing Solution

In collaboration with its group brand Ricci Engineering, Inoxpa rose to the occasion with a fully custom-made microbrewery solution designed specifically for Radiocraft Brewery. Inoxpa is recognized for its high-quality components, engineering, and customized services. They created a system that supported the targeted production volume and improved energy efficiency.

The project began with an in-depth understanding of Radiocraft’s goals and existing constraints. Inoxpa designed and supplied a comprehensive brewing system that included auxiliary hot and cold tanks. This enables energy recovery and improves brewing efficiency. This feature alone played a vital role in Radiocraft’s decision to proceed with Inoxpa’s offering.

Customer Requirements

Radiocraft Brewery’s main requirement was a custom-made microbrewery that could support their production goal of two to three batches per day of ale and lager. Besides production volume, they needed equipment that could ensure:

  • Consistent brewing quality
  • Automation and precision control
  • Energy efficiency
  • Consistent integration into their current facility

To complement the brewing process, they also required a hot liquor tank (HLT) to preheat water for the brewing phase and recover energy, as well as a cold liquor tank (CLT) to cool the wort before the fermentation stage.

Installation Characteristics

Based on these specifications, Inoxpa brought a fully customized microbrewery comprising the following components:

  • RMB1200 Steam Heated Brew House
  • 1 x 25 hl Hot Water Tank (HWT)
  • 1 x 25 hl Cold Water Tank (CWT)
  • 5 x CCT Isobaric Fermenters
  • 1 x 40 hl Bright Beer Tank (BBT)

Additional equipment: Malt mill, steam generator, chiller, canning and labeling equipment

Let’s take a closer look at the role and properties of each component:

Brew House – RMB1200 (Steam Heated)

The RMB1200 is a steam-heated brewing system. They are designed for commercial brewing and ensure standard temperature control during critical phases of mashing and boiling. The system includes a couple of things like mash tun, lauter tun, kettle, and whirlpool, allowing efficient wort production. The RMB1200 model is built to handle intensive brewing schedules and guarantees a high level of process automation, consistency, and quality.

25 hl Hot Water Tank (HWT)

The Hot Water Tank stores 25 hectoliters of heated water, which is important during the brewing process. It provides hot water for:

  • Mashing
  • Rinsing
  • Cleaning

Having a dedicated HWT ensures a continuous supply of hot water, which maintains brewing efficiency and allows for shorter batch turnaround times.

25 hl Cold Water Tank (CWT)

The Cold Water Tank is also important, and stores 25 hl of chilled water. It is used in:

  • Rapid wort cooling after boiling
  • Providing process water at controlled temperatures

This cooling is crucial before yeast pitching. Because it makes sure that the wort reaches fermentation temperature quickly and safely.

5 x CCT Isobaric Fermenters

These Cylindroconical Tanks (CCTs) are designed for isobaric fermentation, allowing the beer to ferment under pressure. Each tank enables:

  • Controlled fermentation
  • Yeast harvesting
  • Beer maturation

Their isobaric design allows CO₂ retention during fermentation, improving carbonation and beer stability.

40 hl Bright Beer Tank (BBT)

The Bright Beer Tank holds 40 hl. They are used in the final stages of beer production:

  • Maturation
  • Clarification
  • Carbonation

It acts as a buffer before the beer is transferred to packaging. This is to make sure that the product is clear, stable, and of consistent quality.

Supporting Equipment

Inoxpa also supplied auxiliary systems with the core brewing units to improve performance:

  • Malt Mill: Cracks malted grains for optimal sugar extraction
  • Steam Generator: Supplies steam to the brew house for heating processes
  • Chiller: Maintain precise cooling of wort and fermenters
  • Canning and Labeling Equipment: Automates beer packaging with high-quality labeling for branding consistency

These additions transform the brewery into a turnkey solution, ready for daily operation.

Special Features

The system installed by Inoxpa is technologically advanced and environmentally conscious. Here are some of its standout features:

  • Energy Saving: Overall energy consumption is significantly reduced through intelligent heat recovery using the hot and cold water tank.
  • Production Efficiency: Radiocraft achieves its 2–3 batch/day goal. One of the reasons for this is that pre-heated water allows for faster brewing cycles.
  • Automation: Centralized control systems and precision instrumentation help reduce the need for manual intervention and maintain repeatability.

Conclusion

The collaboration between Radiocraft Brewery and Inoxpa shows the power of custom-engineered brewing solutions. While optimizing energy use and operational efficiency, Inoxpa has enabled Radiocraft to produce consistent, high-quality craft beers.

From brewing to packaging, each element of the system was designed to offer flexibility, precision, and scalability. The fermentation tanks, bright beer tank, and supporting equipment were all integrated with efficiency, providing Radiocraft with a platform to grow and innovate in the vast, competitive craft beer market.

This project is a prime example of how a modern microbrewery can be fruitful by combining tradition and technology. It is not only about the great-tasting beer we get as an outcome, but also a sustainable brewing process that sets the standard for others in the industry.

Moreover, this solution improves operational reliability and reduces resource wastage. It’s a win for both quality and business growth. Radiocraft can span production without compromising on taste or integrity with automated controls, faster batch turnover, and hygienic and sustainable design.

Breweries like Radiocraft can focus more on creativity and market presence while having day-to-day production with a thoughtfully engineered system that balances quality and performance. Without a doubt, we can say that this setup is made for the future, designed for efficiency, innovation, and lasting success.
